Argentinian Football team kits
One of the best known teams in Argentinian football, Boca Juniors, was formed in 1905. Since then they have rarely been out of the top twenty five teams in world football, and are currently ranked eleventh in the world. Boca Juniors have won a record eighteen international titles, which is the same as AC Milan, and the club has also won twenty three national championships. The club play in blue with a yellow stripe, although in the early part of their history, they played in pink, before quickly changing to black and white for a time before their current strip. Their present colour scheme has formed the basis of their kit since 1907. One of their most famous recent ex-players is Carlos Tevez, presently with Manchester United. The club play at the sixty one thousand capacity La Bombnonera stadium in Brandsden.
Club Atletico River Plate, who are usually referred to as River Plate, was formed in 1901 and is arguably the most famous team in Argentina. They have been placed at number nine in the world's top ranking teams, although are known as number one in America. Six times in the past, they have been the best team in the world. The most recent of these was in 1993. River Plate plays at the Estadio Monumaental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, which has a capacity of 65,645, and is also used by the Argentinian national team. Team colours are white with a red stripe.
Newells Old Boys were formed in 1903 by former pupils at the English High School of Rosario. They named the team after Isaac Newell, and English immigrant who was also the school's football coach. The team play in black and red. This was due to the fact that Newell was English, whilst his wife was German. Newell's Old boys have won the Argentine Championship a total of five times, the most recent being 2004. The club are often referred to as the 'Lepers', due to the fact they played a charity match for a leprosy clinic in the early part of their history.
